We didn't want to spent the New Year's Eve at home, so my girlfriend and me decided to celebrate the 99-Silvester in Paris on the Champs-Elysées. So we booked a journey for 2 nights and many extra-trips at Krechberger Reisen Greiz. It should become an unforgetable journey, but not so as we dreamed of.

To Paris

On December 30 1999 we startet at 5:00 in the morning. Until short before Paris there were no problems, but then ... . The hotel was located 50 km southwest of Paris, so we had to join the big traffic jam around Paris. At 20:00 we reached the suburb, where our hotel should be located. But nobody of our guides spoke any word of French and the only thing we knew was the hotel's adress. Without city-map we searched 1 hour until an inhabitant guided us to the hotel with his car. So at 21:00 we got our rooms. On this evening there should be a trip to paris to see the town by night. But our busdrivers were droven since 3 o'clock in the morning so it was impossible to do that

The trips

The lighttravel was cancelled without substitude. Next morning we moved to the inner city of Paris. After only half an hour of searching (no map, only adress) we found our city-guide who showed us her beautiful city. We saw the Eiffeltower, Palais d`Elysées, Nôtre Dame and Dom des Invalides. The shiptrip was also cancelled because of high water. For substitution we were brought on the Tower of Montparnasse (a skyscraper about 1km south of the Eiffeltower). But we even didn't saw the Eiffeltower because it was very foggy :-( .

New Year's Eve

After a short break in our hotel we moved back to city at 17:00. First we should had diner. After the search (this time by feet) we reached the restaurant at 18:30. 10 minutes later they brought the chairs and we expected that the diner would begin. But 4 waiters were totally overcharged with the about 300 tourists. After 1 hour we got the first food: one slice of cold minced meat in an undefinable mass of paste. It didn't taste well, but we were hungry. The peak was reached with the main diner. Oily potatoes and something that looked and smelled like dog food! That was too much for our stomachs and so most of us gave back this meal. The foto below was shot after the diner :-( . The 3 glasses per person are only fake, we got only one kind of wine. For sparkling water you had to pay extra (50FF=10 Dollar/1l-bottle). After that we went on the streets of paris for our own and joined this huge party. The Champs-Elysées was full of people We walked to the bank of the Seine and enjoyed the fireworks at the Eiffeltower (see foto). At 3 in the morning the bus started back to our hotel and at noon we moved homeward, where we arrived on January 2 at 2 in the morning.

Afterwards

After our return I tried to get some money back because of these problems during the journey (about 10% of the whole price). But nothing happened. Because already my brother had problems with this firm on a trip to Dresden, we must warn anyone not to make journeys with this firm.
